My August Favourites

September is finally here! I absolutely love the transition from summer to autumn, it's my favourite time of year and that's definitely what the month of September signifies for me. Of course, along with a new month comes a new favourites post! This one is pretty small as I've been attempting to save for University over the last few months so I haven't splashed out on anything big, but I hope you all enjoy it all the same.

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator - This summer I've been obsessed with trying different highlighters. From powders to liquids, this has become one of my absolute favourites. It's perfect for strobing or using over foundation, either way gives an amazing glowy effect. The consistency is quite creamy and dries very fast so blending it straight away is an absolute must, but now that I've started using it I wouldn't swap it for anything else. You can read more about this product in my Nyx Haul.

Essie Gel Setter - This top coat works wonders. I've been through many top coats in my time and I can honestly say that this one majorly effects the long lasting strength of any colour nail polish I use under it. Although it claims to work best with other Essie nail polishes, I find that it works just as well with an array of nail polish brands. I have tried it with high end polishes such as Kate Spade and drug store like Barry M, and they all have the same effect.

Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream - I had been looking for a good night cream for a while and had this product recommended to me by a friend. I'm a consistent re-purchaser of the Nivea Hydrating Primer which I absolutely adore, so I thought I would give this a go. Much to my surprise, this really leaves my skin feeling very moisturised by the time I wake up. The formula is extremely heavy and almost feels like you're applying a light sun cream, but apart from this slight down side I would really recommend this product.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - I re-purchased this product this month because of how incredibly amazing it is! If you want a more in-depth review you can check it out here. This product is a pretty high coverage, but I love that aspect of it. Although many claim that the formula is heavy, I completely disagree. I think, if anything, it's quite watery which makes it easily blendable and means you don't have to use a lot of product to cover your face and blend into the neck. It's lasts all day and is completely non transferable - it's an absolute must have!

Ardell Pro Brow Pomade - For any of you looking for a Anastasia Beverly Hills Pomade dupe this is the product for you! It comes with a great quality double-sided eyebrow brush and spoolie (so you're not spending the extra £15 that ABH required for theirs). It lasts all day and the formula is so beautiful. It's quite creamy at first, but then dries down to fill in any possible gaps in your eyebrow. At £7.99 you honestly can't go wrong!

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks - These are the best liquid lipsticks I have ever tried, hands down. The colour range is stunning, I own Serenity (also worn by the one and only Kylie Jenner) and Cher. I intend to do a whole review on these once I have the shade 'Invasion' which I'm ordering soon, so I won't go too in depth, but these lipsticks are honestly INCREDIBLE. They last me a whole 8 hour shift at work with minimal fading - and that includes a lunch break! I can't recommend any other liquid lipsticks as highly as I can these ones.

So that's everything for my August favourites! Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments, I love to hear your opinions and ideas!

  1. I've been needing a new top coat and love the sound of the essie one, my nails are really brittle so it isn't as long lasting! I've heard amazing things about the Gerard Cosmetics liquid lipsticks, I'm still yet to find a liquid lipstick, apart from the NYX soft matte cremes (which aren't technically liquid) that I really love! xx

    1. My nails are awful and nail polish always chips because of them, so I can't recommend this top coat enough! It helps loads! Definitely try the GC liquid lipsticks if you can, they're so much more hydrating than the NYX soft mattes xx
