Making A Change

As I'm sure a few regular readers will have noticed, I haven't uploaded a blog post in over a month. I could put this down to exam stress and losing my job, but that would be somewhat false. I found my exams to be fairly simple this year (well, as simple as A Levels can be) and losing my job has not put a strain on me at all. I found a new one within two weeks and all losing the previous one has done is allow me to have a bit more time for myself which was nice.

I haven't posted because I have felt a bit deflated recently, in terms of blogging. With so much going on in my life it can seem almost ridiculous to sit down and write a post about eyeliner. I also felt so unconnected to the blog itself. I even had a brief couple of days where I thought about giving it up, which is very unlike me. I woke up this morning and decided that what I needed was a fresh start, so welcome to "Georgia Megan" not "White Shirt Chic".

Rebranding my blog and changing the name makes it so much more personal to me. By having my own name as the header and the URL encourages me to take pride in my blog and not leave it abandoned on the internet to fade away. I love blogging, and I have since I started, but since 'White Shirt Chic' picked up speed it started to feel more like a job. I was picking up promotion deals and sponsored posts multiple times a week and it was too much for me to handle along with school and work. Now that I have summer to feel a little bit more free, I can really plan my posts and make sure that the content is up to the standard that it should be.

I have also decided to get a bit more personal on my blog. It's my online space and it feels false to only post about fashion and beauty when there is so much more going on in my life and in the world in general. I usually keep this blog separate from my social media because I always felt that the two worlds shouldn't collide: My social justice warrior gay vegetarian feminist side VS. my non problematic makeup obsessed fashion lover side. Upon reflection I came to the conclusion that I shouldn't have to be ashamed of either. I should be able to feel comfortable expressing all the different parts of myself at all times and not keep certain traits hidden so others can flourish.

So maybe look forward to a few more personal posts on this blog from now on, but don't worry, beauty and fashion have not been pushed aside! I have plenty of ideas and I'm excited to start my new "more-me" blog,

Georgia x
