A Lazy Day Diary

So today was very much a lazy day for me. I stayed in my pyjamas all day just to shower in the afternoon and change into a different pair of pyjamas. Although they can be a bit boring, lazy days can sometimes be the best. They give me a chance to rejuvenate and have some me time where I can properly think about things and collect my thoughts. They can also allow me to slowly do some work throughout the day which stops me from getting behind with my blogging, work and coursework. Today was one of my classic lazy days and I thought I would share with you my "lazy day routine" so maybe you could get some ideas on how to relax on your days off, or maybe you're just nosey. Either way is fabulous.

The very first thing I do upon waking up is check my phone - who doesn't? I'll usually scroll through my twitter and Instagram feeds for a good half an hour before actually even thinking about getting up. Once I've started refreshing the feeds over and over and begin to start re-reading the same old thing, I'll sit up and grab my comfy cardigan which usually hangs on the chair next to me. If I have any new magazines to read (I'm subscribed to ELLE, i-D and Glamour so I rarely run out) I'll flick through them, read the articles and fold down the corners of pages that I find inspiring. If I don't plan on getting up for a bit longer I'll also grab my laptop and check on all my blog links, just to make sure everything is up to date.

When I finally get up, the first thing I will do is make tea. Typically British, I know. I accidentally poured in too much milk for the sake of this picture so please be grateful! The things I do for a photograph! Doing this reminded me of how fake images can be, I mean, who doesn't spend less than at least 20 minutes on a good Instagram photo? Not me (which I suppose is sad, but I love doing it).

Even if I don't wear makeup on my lazy days, I always make sure to keep my skin hydrated and cleanse my face. I wash my face with warm water and then follow with my Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. When I first bought this product I really disliked it, you can read my original review here, but now that I've been using it more I have completely changed my mind! Yes, it's not the best for taking off makeup, but for general cleansing directly on the skin it's great and always leaves my skin feeling soft.

I'll then sit at my tiny little desk and go through all my emails, comments and notifications regarding my blog. This usually takes between half an hour to an hour if I check it every other day. Sadly, I made the mistake of leaving this for 6 days so I had a lot of catching up to do! The emails alone took a good hour to sort through, which I shouldn't be complaining about. Sponsorship opportunities are great to receive, but it takes a long time to sort through them all and figure out which ones are genuine. I also make sure I read through every comment, which doesn't necessarily take long, but if anyone leaves a link to their blog in the comments I usually check them out and therefore get a bit distracted!

Then it was time to do a bit of work! I have recently become a contributor for Outlet Magazine, which is brilliant. The writers always write about such interesting topics and I can honestly never find myself bored on their website. There is so much to read and so many topics to learn about. For my first post I decided to write about gender in the fashion industry, a topic that I'm very passionate about. Once the post is live on the online magazine, I'll be sure to let you all know!

After spending an hour and a half on writing, finding images and sending off my first Outlet Magazine article, I took some time for myself! I grabbed some leftover dominoes pizza (Yum!) and watched the series finale of Pretty Little Liars as well as catching up with some of my favourite YouTuber's videos. To be perfectly honest, I'm not that impressed with Pretty Little Liars this season. The whole "5 year jump" was meant to be an exciting leap forward but, apart from their dress sense and hairstyles being a bit different, it feels exactly the same. They try to figure out who A is - something goes wrong, yet they STILL don't tell the police. I know the show is not exactly meant to be realistic, but it's getting to the point of ridiculousness and I'm getting bored! So after a very anti-climatic season finale I switched over to doddlevloggle for some laughs instead.

After relaxing for a bit, I decided to do a bit more work...coursework that is. I take A Level Textiles and it is definitely the subject I enjoy the most and find the least stressful. Considering I was practically forced into taking the subject at sixth form (it was either textiles or biology) I am so glad I chose it! It gives me such a great creative outlet and the best part is that I can pretty much do anything I want with it. It's also relaxing coursework to do and the only way it can ever be stressful is if you fall behind. Last year I struggled a bit with time management but throughout A2 I have become a lot better which I guess is a very positive thing!

So it's coming towards the end of the day and although I feel lazy, I have been somewhat productive. Sadly, I never even bothered to change out my pyjamas all day so I quickly jumped in shower and jumped back out again, clean, fresh and into another pair of comfy pyjamas! For those of you that haven't tried The Body Shop's Tea Tree Body Wash, please go and check it out! Their whole tea tree range is amazing (except the concealer, don't even get me started) and they all smell beautiful.

It's nearing towards the end of the afternoon and moving into evening. I'm tired from doing nothing all day so I pop downstairs (visit my cats on the way) and make myself my last cup of tea of the day! I then come back up and flick through my blogosphere magazine to get some inspiration for blog posts this month. In February I was so busy that I only managed to upload one post and that's not good enough! I plan to be much more organised in the weeks to come and blogosphere magazine is a great help with that. In fact, any magazine is! I can get inspiration from the tiniest little editorial image or a giant 4 page article. Either way, I always manage to find something to write about, especially with the help of blogosphere.

After flicking through the magazine and noting down a few ideas, I finished my tea and started editing the pictures I had taken throughout the day. This is never an easy task. I ended up taking over 250 photos and managed to narrow it down to 18 - not bad! Now I'm sitting down on my bed, once again, listening to Chvrches and writing this blog post. Technically, it has taken me all day to complete, but I have really enjoyed creating it!

Let me know if you like more lifestyle-y posts like this because I can definitely do more! What do you all do on your lazy days? Did any of you watch the season finale of PLL and feel the same way I do? Feel free to comment below!

  1. Relaxing days are the best days! Your cats are adorable. I watched the finale of PLL, I do love the show but I know what you mean, it is very unrealistic. You would think they would have learnt by now

  3. Sounds like a pretty chill day! I generally have a similar routine (sub cats for dog!) It's funny because on days that I stay in my PJ's I ALWAYS have to shower, but like if I went to class for 2 hours then I just shower the next day (which is reasonable) I'm probably the only one who feels dirtier after a lazy day... ANYWAY I'm getting off-topic. Lovely post!
