StyleLux Blackhead Killer Face Mask Review *

I was recently contacted by StyleLux to do a review of their blackhead killer face mask! I'm always on the look out for a good peel off mask that can benefit my skin as well as leaving it feeling refreshed and smooth, so I just could not turn down the opportunity to try these out.

The packaging for the product is handy as it's easy to just pick out one sachet from the little box, use it, throw it away, and then pick out another sachet on another day. This means that there's no rushing around in a panic, wondering where all your face masks have run off to! After testing the product myself, I found that one sachet is enough to cover your entire face without wasting any product. Applying the product this way also gives the best results in the end.

As you can see, the directions on the back are simple but very clear and understandable. I found that the final step was actually a lot more important than I had first realised. The mask itself is very strong and removes blackheads well and as a result of this it can leave your skin feeling quite dry after using it. Moisturiser is an absolute must after using this product!
The product itself is quite a...slimy (???) substance I guess you could say! It's very thick and must be applied in layers over your face. I've done a couple of little swatches on my hand so you can see. The first one, in a more circle shape, is what the product looks like when first applied to the skin. It's very thin and doesn't tend to work as well as putting it on thickly like the second swatch. On my first try I applied the mask all over my face very thinly. Upon realising that this wasn't actually doing anything, I coated on more and more product until my face was entirely grey/black!
Another thing I've learned from this product is to maybe not apply it to your entire face! It's a lot more effective to only apply it to problem areas, and it's a lot quicker to remove! If you've read this far, you're probably laughing at all the mistakes I've made with this product, but I promise, it's all worth it for the end result! I'll be honest, it does take a bit of scrubbing to remove the product. Although about 85-90% of it peels off easily, I should tell you that it is a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling. It's not exactly pain, but it's not a walk in the park either. In the end, I resorted to using warm water to remove it which was a lot more relaxing and had the exact same effect on the skin from where I had peeled the mask off.
The end result was pretty good! The product was very effective at "killing" my blackheads and I'll definitely be using it again! The product is available to purchase in packs of five which is perfect considering I would recommend using it no more than once a week (or every two weeks if you have sensitive skin) so the 5 sachets would last you a while.
If you're interested you can have a look at this product here or you can check out the StyleLux Homepage and have a little browse of their other products!
Let me know if you've ever tried anything for StyleLux or plan on purchasing something! I'd also love to hear your recommendations for face masks as I'm always on the look out to try something new!

  8. Sounds like this was a little bit of an educational experience for you, haha! Sounds great though. I love a good peel mask and more so if it's uncomfortable, as strange as that sounds. If it's hard to peel off then I feel like it's taking more dirt away from my skin.

  9. Ouhh I love face masks :D Happy to hear it works, it sounds like a good product!

  14. These blackhead killers look interesting but I've never tried them. I've been using only ordinary clay and exfoliating masks and they work really well. x
