So here we are again! Another piece from my editorial fashion series, but this one is going for more of a nature based look. As you can see, I've applied 3-D butterflies to Mel's face and bent the wings to give them a slightly more realistic look. I've also applied a very light base of foundation following with a tiny bit of powder to set it. I wanted to keep the skin looking natural so the eyes and lips would seem to "pop" from her face. Because of this, I used a very light bronzer to define her jawline and cheekbones and applied brighter colours to her eyes and lips (a combination of yellow, orange and a range of blue shades).
Once again, a big thank you to my amazing model who I kept yelling at to "stroke the cat, stroke the cat!!!" when the opportunity came near. I thought it would also be a good idea to mention to you all that none of these photographs were edited in any way whatsoever. Although I'm a huge fan of editorial fashion and every aspect of it (including the technicality of super imposed images and Photoshop) I still think that photography and art through hair/makeup is extremely important to show in the media without any editing as it gives off a sense of realism instead of an unrealistic photograph, model, etc to aspire to.
Let me know your opinions on my work! I love hearing feedback and I always try to act upon it if I can. In my last editorial piece, some readers commented on how the background should match the theme of the image a bit more which I worked on and I think I did this a lot more successfully in this piece. All feedback is good feedback to me so leave any comment you would like below!
