Primers I Couldn't Live Without!

Just a few short years ago I had no idea what primers even were. I was at that stage where I used foundation that was 3 shades too dark, mascara that was clumpy and eyeshadow that was too glittery for words - but at least I've learned from that terrible terrible stage, right? Definitely. In the past couple of years I've learned a million and one makeup techniques and tricks and an important one of those is using primer.

Primers are so so so important when it comes to making sure your makeup is long-lasting. I'm always super busy and I never have any time for touch-ups so having makeup on that lasts at least 8 hours is a must. So, on the hunt for the perfect primers I went...and boy did I find some little pieces of makeup perfection! After trying primer, after primer, after primer...after primer...I finally decided on my absolute favourites. One for each step of makeup!

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer - I did a whole review on this product a few months ago and I stand by every word I said! It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and it lasts forever! The product is not only a facial primer, but a moisturiser as well. It makes my skin feel so soft and creates a perfect easily blendable base to apply foundation on top of. The price of this product is affordable as well, and a lot cheaper than others available. It's currently available in superdrug for HALF PRICE! I promise you, this post is not sponsored and I 100% recommend buying this product. I've used Maybelline primers, MUA and even Smashbox but none have worked as well as this!

ELF Eyelid Primer - I received this product nearly two years ago in a beauty box swap I did for this blog! It's crazy to even think I've been using this product for that long, but it works! It keeps my eye makeup on all day - and I mean all day! As I'm sitting here typing this, I can say that I am confidently still wearing the eye makeup I applied at 9:00 this morning before a 10 hour shift at work (bearing in mind it's just about 11pm now) - that's crazy! That's 14 hours and it still looks exactly the same as it did when I first applied it...even I've shocked myself! At about the £3 mark, this product is definitely worth a purchase!

MAC Prep + Prime Lip Primer - Lip primers are actually quite difficult to find - especially good ones! Most lipsticks tend to last about 4-5 hours on me depending on whether or not I'm eating/drinking. With this primer (and yes, I tested the exact amount of time today!) lasts 10 hours. It's an amazing product and isn't even one of MAC's more expensive products - it's just £13! It might sound a bit weird to say, but the smell of this product is incredible. It has a slight vanilla scent to it which is 10x better than most lip products which either smell of nothing or smell kind of gross, to put it bluntly (if you've ever tried Rimmel's Apocalips you'll know exactly what I mean). I would 100% recommend this as it's by far the best lip primer that I've ever used. I've had all three meals and drunk about 8-10 glasses of lemon detox water throughout the day and the colour from my lipstick is still there!

I hope you've all found this helpful! Primer's are some amazing stuff and if you are interested in starting to use them or just fancy trying out some new products, these three primers above are the best you can get (in my experience of course)! I hope you're all having a lovely weekend! x

  2. I heard a lot of positive things about the Mac lip prep and I just wanted to buy it in the next weeks :) Hope it'll do a great job :)

  3. I use Mac's Prep and Prime too! I am giving it a 4.5 out 5!

  4. I rarely use primers except eyeshadow primers. Usually I am way to lazy to put in the effort. But I have left the dark foundation, glittery shadow phase, promise!
